Their presence is seen as a strong symbol of potential business\nagreements between the two countries with the world\u2019s largest economies.\nTrump was greeted with a bouquet of flowers and walked on a red carpet\nlined with around 300 young Chinese people in white uniforms.<\/p>\n
\u201cWelcome,\u201d the young Chinese greeted while waving small Chinese and\nUS flags.<\/p>\n
En route to Beijing, Trump posted on social media that he would ask\nPresident Xi, whom he called an extraordinary leader, to open up China\nso that brilliant people could demonstrate their talents.<\/p>\n
Jensen Huang\u2019s inclusion in Trump\u2019s entourage was reportedly sudden,\njoining during a stopover in Alaska. Currently, China is banned from\npurchasing advanced artificial intelligence chips produced by Nvidia\nunder US national security rules.<\/p>\n
Several major issues loom over the meeting between the two leaders,\nfrom the Iran war, trade, to Taiwan. The previous Trump-Xi meeting had\nbeen delayed since March due to the war involving the United States and\nIsrael in the Middle East.<\/p>\n
Trump is expected to receive a grand welcome from the Chinese\ngovernment during the state visit. He and Xi are scheduled to hold\nofficial talks at the Great Hall of the People on Thursday (14\/5) at\n10:00 local time.<\/p>\n
In addition to bilateral agendas, Trump is also scheduled to visit\nthe Temple of Heaven, a World Heritage site where ancient Chinese\nemperors once prayed for bountiful harvests. The two leaders will also\nattend a state dinner before proceeding to tea and lunch on Friday\n(15\/5).<\/p>\n
Before leaving the White House, Trump said he expected to have \u201clong\ntalks\u201d with Xi regarding the joint US-Israel war against Iran. He\nalluded to China\u2019s position as Iran\u2019s main oil buyer under US\nsanctions.<\/p>\n
However, Trump sought to downplay any impression of tension with\nBeijing over the issue.<\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t think we need any help regarding Iran. From China and that\nXi has been quite good on this,\u201d Trump told reporters.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, China\u2019s Foreign Ministry stated that it welcomes Trump\u2019s\nvisit.<\/p>\n
