        "content": "<p>Amidst the rapid development of artificial intelligence (AI) and the\ndynamics of the creative industry, the world of design is being called\nto transform. Today\u2019s designers must not only focus on visual aesthetics\nbut also on creating solutions that are relevant and have a real impact\non society.<\/p>\n<p>Responding to this challenge, the Faculty of Design at Universitas\nPelita Harapan (UPH) officially opened the UPH Design Week 2026 series\nat Pelita Gallery, UPH Lippo Village Campus, Tangerang. Carrying the\ntheme \u2018True Design\u2013True Impact\u2019, the event, which runs from 19 to 27\nJune 2026, serves as a platform to prove that design is a bridge between\nhuman understanding, culture, and innovation.<\/p>\n<p>UPH Rector Dr.\u00a0(Hon.) Jonathan L. Parapak, M.Eng.Sc., stressed during\nthe opening that the presence of AI should not threaten human\ncreativity. Instead, he said, this technology should be seen as a tool\nto enrich the creative process. \u2018I believe technology can enrich the\ndesign process, making it better and faster, without losing originality\nor reflection on societal and cultural values,\u2019 Parapak stated in his\nremarks.<\/p>\n<p>Echoing this sentiment, Dean of the UPH Faculty of Design, Dr.\u00a0Ir.\nSusinety Prakoso, MAUD, MLA., asserted that the talents of students must\nbe channelled into meaningful work. According to her, design should not\nbe solely oriented towards material gain or visual beauty, but must\nbring a positive impact to others.<\/p>\n<p>Dr.\u00a0Julia Dewi, S.T., M.T., Chair of the UPH Design Week 2026\ncommittee, highlighted the importance of cross-disciplinary synergy.\nThis year\u2019s theme brings together various study programmes, including\nArchitecture, Visual Communication Design (DKV), Interior Design, and\nProduct Design. \u2018Impactful design cannot be done alone. Collaboration is\nessential so that ideas do not stop as mere concepts, but can be\nrealised and provide tangible benefits,\u2019 Julia explained.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond exhibitions and discussions, the event also features a Pop-Up\nStore showcasing student-led creative business units, as well as a\nDesign Experience Tour for prospective students wishing to explore the\nlearning environment at UPH.<\/p>\n<p>Through UPH Design Week 2026, Universitas Pelita Harapan is committed\nto producing graduates who are adaptive to the changing times while\nfirmly upholding humanistic values.<\/p>",
