On Oct. 25, 1995, at about 12:30 p.m. a mute woman came to our
\noffice unexpectedly. She had short hair and a freckle on her
\nface, looked smart and carried a handbag. She had a letter
\nbearing her name: Yantis. The letter said that the woman needed
\nmoney for bus fare to Surabaya, East Java. She also had a piece
\nof paper that was signed by a district head (which district was
\nnot clear) certifying that the woman needed Rp 20,000 for her
\njourney to Surabaya.<\/p>\n
We had never had such a visitor before and we took pity on
\nher. I collected some money from my colleagues and gave it to
\nher. Later I checked with security to learn whether they had seen
\nthe woman. I was told that some time ago a similar case occurred.
\nThe receptionist on the other floor also confirmed the incident.
\nThe same woman (but then with long hair) came to the office for
\nthe same purpose.<\/p>\n
I believe that someone has used her as a means of collecting
\nmoney by cheating people.<\/p>\n
