        "content": "<p>The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Jenderal\nSoedirman University (Unsoed) Rector Akhmad Sodiq and five other\nindividuals as suspects in an alleged corruption case related to new\nstudent admissions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBased on sufficient evidence and in accordance with the provisions\nof Article 90 of the new Criminal Procedure Code concerning the\ndetermination of suspects, the KPK has named six people as suspects,\u201d\nsaid Acting Director of Investigation at the KPK Achmad Taufik Husein at\nthe KPK\u2019s Merah Putih Building in Jakarta on Friday.<\/p>\n<p>Taufik said the five other suspects are Unsoed Vice Rector for\nStudent Affairs Norman Arie Prayogo, ES as Head of the Academic Section\nat Unsoed, DMW and AW as private parties, and MYN as a nephew of Akhmad\nSodiq.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that the six suspects are alleged to have violated\nArticle 12 letter e or Article 12B of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning\nthe Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number\n20 of 2001 in conjunction with Article 20 letter c of Law Number 1 of\n2023 concerning the Criminal Code.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK subsequently detained the six suspects for the first 20 days\nstarting from 21 August to 9 September 2026.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe detention is being carried out at the KPK Merah Putih Building\nbranch detention centre,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, the KPK conducted a sting operation against a number of\nparties from the Unsoed Rectorate on Thursday (20\/8).<\/p>\n<p>In the operation, the KPK secured 12 people in Purwokerto, Banyumas\nRegency, Central Java, and two people in Jakarta.<\/p>\n<p>Of the 12 people secured in Purwokerto, seven were taken to Jakarta\nfor further questioning. Meanwhile, the two people secured in Jakarta\nimmediately underwent examination at the KPK Merah Putih Building.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, a total of nine people underwent intensive examination in\nconnection with the sting operation.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK also secured evidence in the form of cash amounting to\nhundreds of millions of rupiah in the operation.<\/p>\n<p>Unsoed Rectorate officials previously confirmed by the KPK to have\nbeen secured in the sting operation include Rector Akhmad Sodiq, Vice\nRector for Student Affairs Norman Arie Prayogo, and Vice Rector for\nGeneral Affairs and Finance Kuat Puji Prayitno.<\/p>\n<p>Of the three officials, Akhmad and Norman were subsequently named as\nsuspects along with four other individuals, while Kuat was not among the\nsix suspects announced by the KPK.<\/p>\n<p>The KPK stated that the case relates to alleged receipt of money in\nthe new student admissions process at Unsoed.<\/p>",
