        "content": "<p>Students from Universitas Riau (Unri) are assisting the community in\nNagari Koto Kaciak, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, in managing fisheries\nthrough digitalisation by introducing adaptive cultivation and\necosystem-based digital marketing.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Group and Assistant Lecturer in the Marine Science\nDepartment of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at\nUniversitas Riau, Rizki Oktavian, stated that this effort involves\nintroducing the BPSMT-DIGIFISH system, namely micro-scale integrated\nfish farming based on a digital ecosystem.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe classic problem in Nagari Koto Kaciak is the low productivity of\nfisheries and an unintegrated supply chain. The community has been\ntrapped in conventional methods that are vulnerable to failure when\ndisasters strike,\u201d said Rizki in his statement in Jakarta on\nSaturday.<\/p>\n<p>To address this situation, Unri students are introducing the\nBPSMT-DIGIFISH system as a model for micro-scale integrated fish farming\nthat combines digital technology with an ecosystem approach based on\nlocal community needs.<\/p>\n<p>Through the Recirculating Bucket-Based Fish Farming method, the\ncommunity is trained to produce independent food sources on limited land\nwith a flexible and easily applicable system in various conditions.<\/p>\n<p>The advantage of this system lies in its portable nature, allowing\ncultivation containers to be easily moved when disaster threats occur,\nproviding an adaptive solution to the geographical conditions of the\narea.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that this technology is not merely a tool, but a form\nof enlightenment that can change the community\u2019s mindset towards a more\nmodern and sustainable production system.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the cultivation aspect, the students are also\npromoting value addition through collaboration with local SMEs to\nprocess fishery products into ready-to-eat items with market\ncompetitiveness.<\/p>\n<p>The product \u201cLEMBUKU\u201d or spiced catfish serves as a concrete example\nof transforming previously sold raw harvests into high-economic-value\nprocessed products with packaging and business legality.<\/p>\n<p>Product marketing is conducted through digital platforms, thereby\nopening up broader market access and significantly increasing community\nincome opportunities compared to the previous traditional sales\nsystem.<\/p>\n<p>It is known that the programme involves around 50 students who\nallocate 160 effective working hours in empowerment activities, covering\nproduction, business management, and integrated digital marketing\naspects.<\/p>\n<p>Rizki affirmed that the approach used is Participatory Action\nResearch, so the community is actively involved as subjects of change,\nnot just recipients of the programme benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, he said that through this programme, residents are\nprovided with training from making cultivation tools, production\nmanagement, to using digital technology for independent and long-term\nsustainable marketing.<\/p>\n<p>He emphasised that integration with the tourism sector through\ntourism awareness groups also opens up opportunities for developing\necotourism and fisheries-based education that can sustainably enhance\nthe local economy.<\/p>\n<p>Rizki hopes that the programme can build post-disaster self-reliance\nthrough a resilient system, so the community not only recovers but also\nhas stronger economic competitiveness in the future.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis small effort from Unri students is a reminder to us all that\npost-disaster recovery should not stop at providing emergency aid,\u201d said\nRizki.<\/p>",
