Universitas Padjadjaran (Unpad) has temporarily suspended a lecturer\nsuspected of involvement in a sexual violence case within the campus\nenvironment. Unpad Rector Prof Arief Sjamsulaksan Kartasasmita affirmed\nthat the university does not tolerate any form of sexual violence and\nwill follow up on every report seriously in accordance with applicable\nprovisions.<\/p>\n
\u201cAfter receiving the complete report, on the same day Unpad\nimmediately took firm action by suspending. Unpad will consistently\ncarry out the process of proof and enforcement of violence in accordance\nwith legislation, and prioritise the interests and safety of the\nvictim,\u201d said Arief, quoted by Antara on Friday (17\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n
He stated that the suspension of the professor in question was\ncarried out after the campus received a complete report regarding the\nalleged sexual violence case involving one of the professors.<\/p>\n
Formation of Investigation Team<\/p>\n
In addition to suspending the lecturer, Unpad has also formed an\ninvestigation team to conduct an objective and comprehensive review,\ninvolving the Task Force for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual\nViolence (Satgas PPKS) and elements of the Faculty Senate.<\/p>\n
He said the campus remains cautious in the proof process to avoid\nerroneous decisions, although bias remains towards the victim.<\/p>\n
He emphasised that if violations are proven during the investigation\nprocess, Unpad will impose sanctions in accordance with regulations and\napplicable legislation.<\/p>\n
\u201cUnpad will always pay close attention to the proof procedure\ncarefully through the available mechanisms to avoid erroneous decisions,\nalthough Unpad\u2019s point of bias is towards the victim,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
Unpad assures that the handling of violence is not only carried out\nin this case, but also as part of comprehensive efforts to create a safe\nand conducive campus environment.<\/p>\n
The campus also invites the entire community, including the academic\ncommunity, to support efforts to prevent and handle violence in the\nhigher education environment.<\/p>\n
