        "content": "<p>Unocal evacuates some 720 staff<\/p>\n<p>BANGKOK (AFP): Unocal is evacuating some 720 staff<br>\nfrom offshore gas facilities in the Gulf of Thailand because of a<br>\ntropical storm approaching from the South China Sea to the east,<br>\nthe company said yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>All non-essential personnel were being evacuated by helicopter<br>\nand boats as tropical storm Linda moves westwards towards the gas<br>\nfield off the coast of southern Thailand at a speed of 20 knots,<br>\na Unocal statement said.<\/p>\n<p>Drilling and accommodation barges with a further 161 people on<br>\nboard were being towed to safe locations.<\/p>\n<p>Drilling was suspended around noon Saturday, but gas<br>\nproduction is continuing. Some 80 essential personnel remain at<br>\nthe offshore facilities, located about 120 nautical miles from<br>\nthe coast.<\/p>",
