Police have uncovered the modus operandi of sexual harassment\ncommitted by a lecturer at Universitas Kristen Wira Wacana (Unkriswina)\nSumba, identified as RAL, against his student JMS (20). The alleged\nharassment occurred at RAL\u2019s residence in Kanatang District, East Sumba\nRegency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).<\/p>\n
\u2018According to the victim\u2019s initial statement, the lecturer invited\nher to his home to assist with a report,\u2019 said Inspector Ahmad Furqan,\nhead of the Women and Children\u2019s Protection Unit (PPA) at Sumba Timur\nDistrict Police, to detikBali on Friday, 29 May 2026.<\/p>\n
Ahmad revealed that RAL grabbed the student\u2019s hand and kissed her. He\nadded that the victim did not resist out of fear.<\/p>\n
Days later, RAL called JMS again and requested her to come to his\nhouse. During this visit, JMS was subjected to further sexual\nharassment, with RAL touching her sensitive areas.<\/p>\n
\u2018The victim did not inform anyone due to fear, leading to repeated\nincidents up until 25 May 2026,\u2019 Ahmad explained.<\/p>\n
Ahmad confirmed that police are still investigating the modus\noperandi, as JMS has not fully disclosed details due to suspected\ntrauma. Authorities plan to conduct a psychological assessment of the\nvictim shortly.<\/p>\n
Sumba Timur District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Gede\nHarimbawa stated his officers would immediately investigate the case. He\nadded that the case would proceed to formal investigation and suspect\ndesignation once sufficient evidence is gathered.<\/p>\n
\u2018It will take time to interview witnesses, but we will conduct the\ninvestigation as swiftly as possible to gather evidence against the\nperpetrator,\u2019 Gede said.<\/p>\n
Police also plan to obtain statements from Unkriswina officials on\nTuesday, 2 June. Gede urged all Unkriswina Sumba female students to\nreport any sexual violence from the lecturer immediately.<\/p>\n
\u2018If anyone has experienced this, please report it immediately. We are\nopen to all reports. If the lecturer is the perpetrator, those who\nbelieve they were previously victimised should come forward. The\nidentities of reporters will be protected,\u2019 Gede added.<\/p>\n
Case Chronology<\/p>\n
Previously reported, lecturer RAL of Unkriswina Sumba was reported to\npolice over alleged sexual harassment of student JMS. The case began\nwhen JMS\u2019s brother, RS, noticed his sister was not at home on Monday, 25\nMay.<\/p>\n
RS then checked JMS\u2019s location using GPS Maps. The tracking showed\nshe was in Temu Village. RS went to the coordinates provided.<\/p>\n
Upon arrival, RS found the coordinates led to RAL\u2019s residence. He\nknocked on the door of the law lecturer\u2019s home to confirm his sister\u2019s\nwhereabouts.<\/p>\n
After several knocks, RAL emerged. RS stated he was searching for his\nsister, but RAL claimed JMS was at a friend\u2019s house.<\/p>\n
RS then urged RAL to help search for JMS. Before leaving, the\ncomplainant asked RAL to check inside the house, but the suspect\ninitially refused.<\/p>\n
After persistent insistence, RAL allowed RS to enter. It was then\nthat RS discovered JMS inside RAL\u2019s home.<\/p>\n
RS then took the victim to Sumba Timur Police Station to file a\nreport.
