        "content": "<p>Uniforms business not for principals<\/p>\n<p>TANGERANG (JP): The mayoralty&apos;s education and culture office<br>\nhas banned all high school principals from involvement in the<br>\nprovision of school uniforms and textbooks.<\/p>\n<p>Office chief Muhyi Syarifuddin said yesterday that the move<br>\nwas aimed at cutting bureaucratic procedures in order to provide<br>\ncheaper prices.<\/p>\n<p>Students will be allowed to wear their old uniforms and are<br>\nnot required to buy new ones for the coming school year so as not<br>\nto further burden parents, he said.<\/p>\n<p>Syarifuddin also called on principals to use their discretion<br>\nwhen it came to charging tuition fees.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;Students from very poor families may be exempted from the<br>\nfees,&quot; he said.
