UNICEF Indonesia Appoints Thomas Davin as New Representative<\/p>\n

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - UNICEF Indonesia has appointed Thomas Davin as\nits new Representative, tasked with leading the agency\u2019s work in\nIndonesia and strengthening cooperation with the government and other\npartners on children\u2019s rights and well-being.<\/p>\n
Davin formally presented his credentials to Indonesia\u2019s Ministry of\nForeign Affairs on September 9, marking the official start of his\nassignment. He assumed the role on September 1, 2026.<\/p>\n
Davin brings more than 25 years of experience with UNICEF, including\nleadership positions at the country and regional levels, humanitarian\nresponse, and global innovation.<\/p>\n
Before taking up his new post in Indonesia, Davin served for more\nthan five years as Director of UNICEF\u2019s Global Office of Innovation in\nSweden. The office works through a global network of innovation hubs and\nexperts to develop and scale solutions for children.<\/p>\n
During his tenure, the office expanded its reach to more than 120\ncountries and supported initiatives including the use of artificial\nintelligence to support children\u2019s learning, blockchain technology to\nreach unvaccinated children, and innovative financing for child-focused\nventures.<\/p>\n
Davin said he was \u201chonoured and excited\u201d to begin his new chapter in\nIndonesia, describing the country as one of \u201cremarkable scale, diversity\nand promise.\u201d<\/p>\n
He said he had been deeply impressed by Indonesia\u2019s commitment to\nchildren and young people, reflected in the government\u2019s sustained\ninvestment in human capital, and highlighted the ambitious Golden\nIndonesia 2045 vision, which places children at the centre of the\ncountry\u2019s future.<\/p>\n
UNICEF, he added, is committed to supporting those efforts.<\/p>\n
Davin said he looked forward to working closely with the Government\nof Indonesia, communities, civil society, development partners, the\nprivate sector and young people to build on the country\u2019s progress and\naspirations.<\/p>\n

Davin\u2019s Experience in Asia-Pacific<\/p>\n
Davin previously worked in East Asia and the Pacific, serving as\nUNICEF Deputy Regional Director for the region from 2019 to 2020. He was\nalso UNICEF Representative in Thailand from 2016 to 2019.<\/p>\n
Earlier in his career, he served as UNICEF Representative in Algeria,\nRegional Chief of Emergency Response for the Middle East and North\nAfrica, and Deputy Representative for Programmes and acting\nRepresentative in Djibouti.<\/p>\n
His other UNICEF assignments included humanitarian response,\ndevelopment and social impact work in Kosovo, Pakistan, Afghanistan and\nGeneva.<\/p>\n
Davin is a French national. He holds a Master\u2019s degree in Political\nScience from the Institut d\u2019\u00c9tudes Politiques in Strasbourg and a\nBachelor\u2019s degree in Economics from Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re Lyon II.<\/p>\n
