        "content": "<p>Makassar (ANTARA) - The Rector of Hasanuddin University (Unhas),\nProfessor Jamaluddin Jompa (JJ), has emphasised the importance of the\nability to adapt to technological developments, particularly Artificial\nIntelligence (AI), for graduates to remain competitive in an\nincreasingly demanding job market and to create a real impact on\nsociety.<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks in Makassar on Tuesday, Professor JJ reminded\nattendees that technological changes have brought significant disruption\nto the world of work. Consequently, university graduates cannot rely\nsolely on academic abilities; they must possess sensitivity to\ncontemporary trends and the proficiency to utilise technology to enhance\ntheir personal capacity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf our ancestors read the constellations for navigation, today\ngraduates must be intelligent in reading data and technology trends,\u201d\nProfessor JJ stated during his speech at the Unhas Graduation for the\nSeptember Period of the 2026\/2027 Academic Year.<\/p>\n<p>The Unhas Rector encouraged graduates not to view AI merely as a\nthreat, but rather as an instrument that can accelerate work, increase\nproductivity, and generate better solutions.<\/p>\n<p>Amidst rapid technological advancement, Professor JJ reiterated that\nthe excellence of Unhas graduates does not end with technological\nmastery. There are human qualities that must be maintained and which\nbecome even more vital in the age of AI.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cArtificial intelligence can assist humans in processing information\nand completing tasks, but the ability to consider values, understand\nfeelings, and make ethical decisions remains with humans,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo matter how sophisticated a computing system is created, machines\nwill never possess conscience, ethics, or social empathy,\u201d added\nProfessor JJ.<\/p>\n<p>On that basis, Professor JJ requested that graduates use integrity as\ntheir foundation when utilising technology. The ability to leverage AI\nmust be accompanied by moral responsibility to ensure that technological\nprogress is truly directed towards creating benefits.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is where your irreplaceable advantage as humans lies.
