        "content": "<p>A student at Gorontalo State University (UNG), Syarifah Aslamiyah\n(25), has reported the Head of the Communication Science Department,\nFaculty of Social Sciences (FIS), Citra FIL Dano Putri, to the\nOmbudsman. Syarifah filed the report over alleged maladministration\nafter she was barred from taking her thesis examination.<\/p>\n<p>\"Yes, I reported this complaint to the Gorontalo Ombudsman because I\nwas prohibited from taking the thesis examination. I am at risk of\nlosing the opportunity to complete my studies,\" Syarifah said on Sunday\n(19\/7\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>The fourteenth-semester student officially lodged the report on\nTuesday (14\/7). She believes the department chair\u2019s policy cost her the\nfinal chance to finish her degree.<\/p>\n<p>\"I feel there is something irregular and my rights as a student have\nnot been fairly granted. I have suffered material and non-material\nlosses because it does not align with the process I have undergone,\" she\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>Head of the Communication Science Department, Citra, denied the\nallegation of prohibiting the thesis examination. She asserted that the\ndepartment had acted in accordance with university procedures.<\/p>\n<p>\"The failure to achieve graduate status by the student concerned is\npurely a result of neglecting the academic process and non-compliance\nwith collectively established deadlines,\" she said.<\/p>\n<p>Citra stated that Syarifah had never conducted thesis result\nconsultations with either her first or second supervisor. On that basis,\nthe student was deemed ineligible to sit the thesis examination.<\/p>\n<p>\"There were zero supervision sessions. Miss Syarifah Aslamiyah never\nconducted research result consultations, neither with Supervisor 1 nor\nSupervisor II,\" she noted.<\/p>",
