Gorontalo (ANTARA) - Universitas Negeri Gorontalo (UNG) is overseeing\nthe implementation of the Smart Aquaponic community service programme to\npromote nutritious food in Ombulo Village, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo\nProvince.<\/p>\n
Researcher Faramita Hiola, speaking from Gorontalo City on Tuesday,\nstated that through the Institute for Research and Community Service\n(LPPM), UNG is monitoring and evaluating the execution of this community\nservice programme.<\/p>\n
The activity was conducted to observe the progress of the programme\u2019s\nimplementation and to ensure that the innovations developed by the\nservice team can provide real and sustainable benefits to the\ncommunity.<\/p>\n
The monitored programme is titled \u201cEmpowering the People of Ombulo\nVillage through Integrated Smart Aquaponics Based on Green Technology,\nto Support a Sustainable Free Nutritious Meal Programme\u201d.<\/p>\n
Faramita noted that the programme is supported by funding from the\nDirectorate of Research and Community Service (DPPM), Directorate\nGeneral of Research and Development, Ministry of Higher Education,\nScience, and Technology for the 2026 period.<\/p>\n
Through this programme, the service team\u2014comprising Faramita Hiola,\nYoyanda Bait, and Djuna Lamondo\u2014is introducing the application of\nIntegrated Smart Aquaponics.<\/p>\n
This innovation integrates fish farming and plant cultivation into a\nsingle system, using a more efficient and environmentally friendly\ntechnological approach.<\/p>\n
The application of this technology is expected to serve as an\nalternative way to support the availability of nutritious food sources\nfor the community.<\/p>\n
In addition to producing fishery commodities, the aquaponic system\nalso allows the community to conduct integrated plant cultivation,\nensuring more effective resource utilisation.<\/p>\n
During the monitoring and evaluation (monev) activity, the UNG LPPM\nteam directly inspected the progress of the programme, the achievements\nof the activities, and the implementation of the green technology-based\nIntegrated Smart Aquaponics developed alongside the people of Ombulo\nVillage.<\/p>\n
The evaluation also aimed to assess the extent to which the\ninnovation can benefit the community and the potential for the\nprogramme\u2019s sustainability after the service period ends.<\/p>\n
The Head of UNG LPPM, Professor Lanto Ningray, stated that community\nservice implementation must be able to address real problems faced by\nsociety through the application of research results and innovation.<\/p>\n
\u201cThrough monitoring and evaluation, we want to ensure that the\nprogramme implemented not only proceeds according to plan but also\nprovides benefits that can be felt by the community, particularly in\nOmbulo Village,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
According to him, community service activities need to be\ncontinuously directed towards efforts to solve various problems through\nthe application of science and technology that possess utility and\nsustainability.<\/p>\n
Through the development of Integrated Smart Aquaponics, UNG hopes\nthat the people of Ombulo Village can obtain alternative technologies to\nsupport the development of food sources that are more efficient,\nenvironmentally friendly, and sustainable.<\/p>\n
This programme also serves as a manifestation of UNG\u2019s commitment to\nstrengthening the role of universities through research and community\nservice activities oriented towards innovation, empowerment, and\nproblem-solving within society.<\/p>\n
With the spirit of presenting an impactful campus, UNG continues to\nstrive to ensure that every innovation born within the academic\nenvironment can transcend the laboratory and campus walls.<\/p>\n
