Unfrel unveils various violations during polls<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): The University Network for Free and Fair
\nElections (Unfrel), a local poll watchdog, reported on Friday
\nseveral violations conducted during Monday's balloting in the
\nDepok mayoralty in West Java.<\/p>\n
Unfrel election monitoring coordinator Tris Stiadi said on
\nFriday that violations, recorded in all three districts of the
\nmayoralty, ranged from unequal distribution of ballot cards by
\ndistrict polling committees to suspicious calculations of votes,
\nboth by members of polling stations and subdistrict polling
\ncommittees.<\/p>\n
\"We're seriously considering asking the Bogor mayoralty
\nelections committee to repeat the election process in Depok,\"
\nTris told The Jakarta Post.<\/p>\n
The watchdog had 721 volunteers monitoring the election across
\n350 of 390 polling places in 23 subdistricts of Sukmajaya, Beji
\nand Pancoranmas districts.<\/p>\n
Unfrel member Nurmala said outstanding cases were found at
\nfour polling places of Tirtajaya subdistrict, Sukmajaya.<\/p>\n
\"We have the stamped, official forms from all four polling
\nstations. They show that the National Mandate Party (PAN) won
\nnearly 400 votes,\" Nurmala told the Post.<\/p>\n
\"However, the stamped form from the Tirtajaya PPS office shows
\nthat PAN only won one vote at the provincial level and none at
\nthe central and regional levels.\"<\/p>\n
Unfrel, Tris added, has also asked the Bogor PPD II office to
\nhold an additional poll because scores of residents were barred
\nfrom exercising their rights when polling places closed at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
The General Elections Commission has ruled that polling
\ncommittees should try to finish by 2 p.m. but should extend the
\nhours if registered voters had not yet cast their ballots. (ylt)<\/p>",
