Sometime ago Metro Jaya Police detained scalpers of vehicle
\nlicenses, like car licenses on Jl. Daan Mogot, West Java.
\nLater we learnt that the scalpers had been released after
\npromising not to make the same error.<\/p>\n
The media has recently been dominated by stories of car
\nlicense scalpers being arrested. The odd thing is that the number
\nof scalpers have not decreased, and they can still be found
\nmilling around the license office. It looks as if they were given
\na free hand in their operations without the remote prospective of
\ngetting caught. The latest offenders were released without being
\npenalized.<\/p>\n
After observing this kind of news in the media and bearing
\nwitness to such activities in the field, I have drawn the
\nconclusion that the problem of these scalpers is not being
\nhandled seriously. If the problem was taken seriously, scalpers
\nwho were caught would have been given stiffer penalties and would
\nhave been discouraged against repeating such acts.<\/p>\n
Aside from giving heavy penalties to car license scalpers, an
\neven heavier penalty should be given to cooperating officials
\nwithin the license office. Scalpers cannot do much without the
\nsupport of respective department officials. So far only the
\nactivities of scalpers has been targeted while officials involved
\nin the racket went free. Both scalpers and license officials
\nshould have been punished by the police!<\/p>\n
