Behind the relieved smile of Rumsiah (57) lies a story of how the\nNational Health Insurance (JKN) programme became a lifesaver amidst\neconomic limitations. A resident of Kampung Kadusogol, Mekarwangi\nVillage, Saketi District, Pandeglang Regency, she has directly\nexperienced the benefits of the JKN programme managed by BPJS Kesehatan,\nparticularly when she required intensive medical treatment for bladder\ndisease.<\/p>\n
As a participant in the JKN segment for Contribution Recipients\n(PBI), whose premiums are covered by the government, Rumsia admits she\nis no longer haunted by worries regarding high medical costs. Having\nbeen a JKN participant for approximately 15 years, she has experienced\nhealth protection that provides security to obtain medical services\nwithout being burdened by costs, serving as tangible evidence of the\nstate\u2019s presence in guaranteeing access to healthcare for those in\nneed.<\/p>\n
Given her family\u2019s modest economic condition, Rumsiah admitted she\ncould not imagine the enormous costs that would have been incurred if\nthe entire medical process and the surgeries she underwent had to be\npaid for out of pocket. Therefore, she feels deeply grateful that all\nthe healthcare services she received were covered through the JKN\nprogramme.<\/p>\n
\u201cAlhamdulillah, I have been a BPJS Kesehatan participant under the\nPBI scheme for about 13 years. It has been very helpful to our family.\nWe come from a family with limited economic means, so if it weren\u2019t for\nBPJS Kesehatan, it would have been very difficult to pay for medical\nexpenses,\u201d said Rumsiah.<\/p>\n
Rumsiah\u2019s medical journey began when she experienced bladder\ncomplications that required hospitalisation. After undergoing\nexaminations at Hermina Ciruas Hospital in Serang Regency, she received\na referral to undergo surgery at Persahabatan Hospital in Jakarta.<\/p>\n
In May 2024, doctors diagnosed Rumsiah with the need for bladder\nsurgery. The surgical process went well, but her medical journey was not\nover. A month later, in June 2024, she experienced further health\ncomplications involving an inability to urinate, necessitating a second\nsurgery.<\/p>\n
As a result of this condition, Rumsiah had to undergo intensive\nhospital care for approximately one week.
