Amid global uncertainties stemming from conflicts involving the US, Israel, Iran, and Gulf states, political communication expert M Jamiluddin Ritonga argues that ministers in President Prabowo Subianto's cabinet must act as proactive problem-solvers rather than merely following routine tasks or waiting for presidential directives. He highlights the need for ministers to anticipate crises, such as those in the Middle East affecting energy supplies, and deliver innovative solutions to boost departmental performance. Ritonga urges Prabowo to evaluate and reshuffle underperforming ministers who could otherwise burden the government during this critical period.

Several countries are preparing to face uncertain geopolitical and
economic conditions amid conflicts involving the United States, Israel,
Iran, and Gulf nations. M Jamiluddin Ritonga, a political communication
observer at Esa Unggul University, stated that ministers, as
policymakers, must possess the ability to resolve problems and act
systematically.

“In the midst of global uncertainty, Prabowo Subianto’s cabinet
cannot merely carry out routine tasks. Ministers who only perform
routines will become trapped in various emerging issues,” Jamiluddin
told reporters on Tuesday (31/3/2026).

Jamiluddin hopes that ministers in the Merah Putih Cabinet can
resolve problems. He emphasised the need for breakthroughs from the
relevant ministries.

“Those ministers will be entangled in various issues. As a result,
the ministries they lead will not be able to enhance their performance.
Therefore, the ministers in Prabowo’s cabinet must become
problem-solvers. Such ministers are appropriate at a time when Indonesia
is facing a crisis due to turmoil in the Middle East,” he said.

According to him, every minister must be able to identify, provide
solutions, expertly predict, and analyse the root causes of problems. He
believes ministers are required to anticipate crises early.

“This has apparently not yet been evident in some ministers in
Prabowo’s cabinet. These ministers tend to wait for directions from the
president. For example, seeking energy sources other than from the
Middle East,” Jamiluddin stated.

“Therefore, during this current crisis, it would be advisable for
Prabowo to evaluate his ministers. Ministers who only wait for
instructions should be replaced,” he continued.

He proposed that ministers who are weak in resolving problems should
be replaced. Jamiluddin does not want such ministers to become a burden
to the cabinet.

“So, during this energy crisis, Prabowo should assess his ministers.
Ministers who are weak in problem-solving should be reshuffled. Because
ministers like this only become a burden to Prabowo,” he added.
",
