        "content": "<p>Jayapura (ANTARA) - Universitas Cenderawasih (Uncen) in Jayapura and\nPT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding\n(MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) to develop an inclusive and\nsustainable education ecosystem in Papua.<\/p>\n<p>Rector of Universitas Cenderawasih, Oscar Oswald O. Wambrauw, stated\nin a press release received in Jayapura on Tuesday that collaboration\nbetween higher education institutions and industry is key to producing\nsuperior, adaptive human resources ready to face future challenges.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTherefore, the synergy between Uncen and PT Freeport Indonesia is\nnot merely an institutional partnership but a real commitment to\nbuilding Papua\u2019s future through education,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>According to Oscar, the signing of this cooperation marks an\nimportant step in strengthening the strategic partnership between\nUniversitas Cenderawasih and PT Freeport Indonesia.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a continuation of a long journey of successful\ncollaboration, including the historic handover of the Uncen Science and\nPartnership Building in December 2025,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>PTFI President Director Tony Wenas stated that cooperation between\ncompanies and universities or educational institutions is crucial to\nalign supply and demand requirements.<\/p>\n<p>He explained that Freeport Indonesia and Uncen have a very close\nrelationship history, with numerous collaborations conducted, from\nresearch on the Singing Dog in Grasberg, social anthropology research,\nresearch on customary land ownership of the Amungme tribe, and\ncooperation in the form of teaching.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWith pride and great pleasure, today we are signing the MoU between\nPTFI and Uncen, which will umbrella various collaborations in education\ndevelopment, research and innovation, human resource capacity building,\nand other collaborative programmes,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that the MoU between PTFI, Uncen, and Arizona State\nUniversity aims to improve education quality towards higher\naccreditation, followed by the signing of the Cooperation Agreement\n(PKS) between PTFI and Uncen Jayapura for the practitioner teaching\nprogramme, with activities including thematic learning, seminars,\ntraining, and character education.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, 332 Uncen alumni are working as professional employees at\nPTFI. The number of Uncen scholarship recipients from Freeport is 255,\nwith 51 students currently active, expected to increase in the\nfuture.<\/p>",
