        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com \u2013 The increase in plane ticket prices ahead of\nEid has driven some travellers to switch to land transport, particularly\nbuses. In addition to being considered more affordable, buses are also\nviewed as more practical because they can deliver passengers directly to\ntheir destinations without the need for transfers. One traveller heading\nto Padang, West Sumatra, Yos (27), at Lebak Bulus Terminal in South\nJakarta, said that plane ticket prices were the main consideration in\nchoosing his mode of transport. He mentioned that flight fares have seen\nsignificant increases in recent years. According to Yos, the price\ndifference is quite substantial, especially since he is travelling with\nhis family. He thus chose the bus as a more economical option. \u201cIf (with\nthis bus) it\u2019s Rp 800,000 for me, my sibling, and my mother, three of\nus,\u201d he said. Besides the cost factor, Yos also adjusted his departure\ntime to his busy work schedule. He chose to leave close to Eid so as not\nto be away from his job in Jakarta for too long. \u201cFor me, it\u2019s usually\nlike that, three days before Eid, so when I arrive there (in Padang),\nit\u2019s already dawn on Eid,\u201d he said. He admitted that the short holiday\nperiod means he has to return to Jakarta immediately after the holiday.\n\u201cBecause I don\u2019t want to stay long. Because I\u2019m back in three days (to\nJakarta) to work again,\u201d he said. Nevertheless, Yos still makes simple\npreparations before departing, especially to maintain his physical\ncondition during the long journey. He also chose to arrive early at the\nterminal to anticipate delays due to traffic jams. Another traveller,\nRoni (46), also chose the bus due to the ease of access to his hometown\nin Jepara, Central Java. He considered other modes of transport to make\nthe journey longer because they require a transfer in a major city.\n\u201cYes, because there\u2019s no other alternative for where I\u2019m going. If I\ntake the train or plane or whatever, it all ends up in Semarang. Even\nthough from Semarang to the village is still quite far, about two to\nthree hours,\u201d he said.<\/p>",
