        "content": "<p>Hamilton, Canada (ANTARA) - The United Nations on Monday (13 July)\nonce again reaffirmed its call to guarantee freedom of navigation in the\nStrait of Hormuz amid reports that the United States will impose a 20\nper cent fee on ships passing through the sea lane.<\/p>\n<p>Secretary-General Antonio Guterres received the underlying reasoning\nthat any member state could impose tariffs on cargo transiting the\nstrait.<\/p>\n<p>At a press conference, UN Secretariat Spokesperson Stephane Dujarric\nsaid the Secretary-General\u2019s position was consistent.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe wants to see freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz,\u201d\nDujarric said.<\/p>\n<p>The statement came amid the latest exchanges of attacks between the\nUnited States and Iran over the past weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Dujarric also confirmed that the official leading the UN Special\nCoordinator for Lebanon, Jean Arnault, had met Iranian Foreign Minister\nAbbas Araghchi on his first visit to Iran.<\/p>\n<p>In the meeting, according to Dujarric, Arnault outlined UN efforts to\nimplement Resolution 1701 as well as his views on the challenges\nahead.<\/p>\n<p>Arnault also sought Iran\u2019s views on the situation and the support\nthat countries in the region could provide to realise Lebanon\u2019s\naspirations for peace, sovereignty and territorial integrity.<\/p>",
