Timor visit<\/p>\n<p>DILI, East Timor: A visiting member of the United Nations<br>\nsubcommission on the prevention of discrimination and protection<br>\nof minorities, Miguel Alfonso Martinez, called yesterday for a<br>\nrealistic view of East Timor.<\/p>\n<p>\"East Timor has achieved progress after it integrated with<br>\nIndonesia 21 years ago,\" he told journalists at Comoro Airport at<br>\nthe end of a three-day visit.<\/p>\n<p>\"I respect Indonesia's efforts to settle the East Timor issue<br>\nwith Portugal and we do hope that it will be settled very soon.<br>\nWe (at the UN) also pay a lot of attention to the settlement of<br>\nthe issue,\" he added.<\/p>\n<p>As reported by Antara, during his visit to the province,<br>\nMartinez met with several East Timor figures including Governor<br>\nAbilio Jose Osorio Soares and East Timor Military Commander Col.<br>\nSlamat Sidabutar and local figures.
