        "content": "<p>The United Nations (ANTARA) - The UN General Assembly (UNGA) on\nTuesday adopted a resolution on the establishment, implementation, and\nreview of mandates, as part of efforts to reform the global body to make\nit more efficient and effective.<\/p>\n<p>The resolution was adopted through a recorded vote with 168 votes in\nfavour, 4 against, and no abstentions. Belarus, the Democratic People\u2019s\nRepublic of Korea (DPRK), Nicaragua, and Russia voted against the\nresolution.<\/p>\n<p>Under the provisions of the resolution, the UNGA approves a set of\nprinciples to guide the creation, implementation, and review of all UN\nmandates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe resolution adopted today reflects a shared understanding of the\nfull lifecycle of mandates and a commitment to strengthening each of its\nstages, which brings greater discipline, coherence, and transparency to\nmandate-making,\u201d said UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.<\/p>\n<p>Guterres said the process encourages \u201cclearer and more focused\nmandates\u201d and strengthens a culture of continuous improvement based on\nevidence, accountability, and results.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is a big step.
