        "content": "<p>Lecturers and students from Universitas Muhammadiyah Ahmad Dahlan\n(UMMADA) Cirebon have carried out a community service activity in Sarewu\nVillage, Pancalang District, Kuningan Regency. The activity targeted the\nwomen of the Sarewu Village PKK (Family Welfare Movement) as an effort\nto improve skills while utilising the village\u2019s local potential.<\/p>\n<p>Sarewu Village is known as one of the watermelon-producing areas.\nRecognising this potential, the UMMADA Cirebon community service team\ndeveloped an innovation to turn watermelon rind into a processed product\nwith practical value.<\/p>\n<p>The community service activity carried the theme \u2018Empowerment of PKK\nWomen in Making Watermelon Rind Sweets (Miss. LISA) to Overcome Nausea\nand Vomiting in Pregnant Women in Sarewu Village, Pancalang District,\nKuningan Regency\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The community service was chaired by Apt. Teguh Adiyas Putra, M.Farm\nfrom the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme, with members Dr.\u00a0Apt. Deni\nFirmansyah, M.Sc from the Bachelor of Pharmacy programme and Wiwin\nWidyanti, M.Kes from the Bachelor of Midwifery programme.<\/p>\n<p>Through the activity, PKK women were given knowledge and skills in\nprocessing watermelon rind into sweets. This innovation is expected not\nonly to help reduce waste from watermelons but also to open up\nopportunities for utilising local materials into products with added\nvalue.<\/p>\n<p>The community service programme was funded by DPPM Kemdiktisaintek\nunder the Community Partnership Empowerment (PKM) scheme for 2026. The\npurpose of the activity was to provide partners with knowledge about the\nhealth benefits of watermelon and to provide training in making\nwatermelon rind sweets, particularly to address nausea and vomiting in\npregnant women.<\/p>\n<p>The product of this activity is Miss. Lisa (watermelon rind sweets).\nSeveral studies have been conducted on the pharmacological activities of\nwatermelon rind, including as an antidiabetic, antioxidant,\nanti-inflammatory, analgesic and antibacterial agent.<\/p>\n<p>Komariyah, the chairwoman of the Sarewu Village PKK, said the\nactivity was very beneficial for her industry because it can reduce\nwatermelon rind waste.<\/p>",
