Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) has received three decrees\nfrom the Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology for the\nopening of new study programmes. The handover took place at the LLDIKTI\nRegion III auditorium on Tuesday.<\/p>\n
The three decrees cover the establishment of a Speech and Language\nTherapy Applied Bachelor programme, a Physical Education Master\u2019s\nprogramme, and a Doctorate in Political Science. These programmes are\norganised by the Muhammadiyah Association as UMJ\u2019s governing body.<\/p>\n
Head of LLDIKTI Region III, Dr Henri Togar Hasiholan Tambunan, stated\nthat the issuance of these permits is a timely opportunity for higher\neducation institutions to prepare for new student admissions in the\ncoming semester. He noted that the approved programmes are in fields\nneeded by society and will broaden higher education choices for\nprospective students. \u201cThe timing is perfect as there is still time to\nprepare for new student intake. These programmes are also highly needed\nby the community, providing more options while addressing current\ndemands,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Tambunan added that after receiving the decree, institutions must\npromptly prepare supporting aspects, from faculty resources and\naccreditation processes to academic administration, to ensure the\nprogrammes run optimally from the outset. He also affirmed LLDIKTI\nRegion III\u2019s commitment to assisting universities during the\nimplementation phase. \u201cIf there are matters to consult or support needed\nregarding programme delivery, we are ready to assist so the process can\nrun smoothly,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n
UMJ\u2019s Vice Rector I, Prof Dr Muhammad Hadi, explained that the three\nnew programmes are planned to begin accepting students in the odd\nsemester of the upcoming academic year. He described the addition as\npart of UMJ\u2019s strategy to strengthen academic capacity and expand the\nuniversity\u2019s contribution to societal needs. The opening of the Physical\nEducation master\u2019s and Political Science doctoral programmes further\nreinforces postgraduate education development at UMJ. Meanwhile, the\nSpeech and Language Therapy programme is expected to meet the growing\ndemand for healthcare services. \u201cSpeech therapy is a very important\nfield today as it can support the treatment of various health\nconditions, from stroke-related disorders to various communication\nbarriers requiring professional handling,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Hadi emphasised that receiving the decrees is not only an\ninstitutional achievement but also a mandate that must be realised\nthrough quality education. UMJ is committed to ensuring that each new\nprogramme maintains excellent academic standards. \u201cThis is a\nresponsibility entrusted by the state to UMJ. We will prove it through\nquality programme implementation and a target of superior accreditation\nas a demonstration of UMJ\u2019s sincerity in carrying out this mandate,\u201d he\nasserted.<\/p>\n
