UKI opens new school<\/p>\n
The Indonesian Christian University (UKI) will launch its
\nschool of social and political sciences this month, marking the
\nbeginning of the new 1994\/95 academic year.<\/p>\n
UKI announced yesterday that it had obtained the permit from
\nthe Ministry of Education and Culture to offer undergraduate
\ndegree courses for students intending to major in international
\nrelations, communications studies and public administration
\nstudies.<\/p>\n
The new school will be headed by Dean SM Simarangkir.<\/p>\n
At the launching ceremony scheduled for Nov. 9, retired Navy
\nVice Admiral FM Parapat will present an oration entitled The
\npolitics of security and defense and national strategy.<\/p>\n
UKI, a prominent private university operating from its campus
\nin Cawang, East Jakarta, currently has six schools: a school of
\nlaw, school of pedagogy, medical school, technical school, school
\nof economics and a school of letters.<\/p>\n
Rector K Tunggul Sirait said he hopes that in the near future,
\nUKI will expand the number of degrees offered at the Technical
\nCollege.<\/p>\n
UKI also plans to offer more postgraduate degrees at the
\nschool of education and a diploma program at the economic
