        "content": "<p>UK-Philippines military training<\/p>\n<p>MANILA (AFP): British Foreign Secretary Robin Cook, who is<br>\nseeking an agreement for joint military training in the<br>\nPhilippines, would support a pact providing reciprocal legal<br>\nprotection for soldiers, a British source said here yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Under this proposal, British troops participating in exercises<br>\nin the Philippines would enjoy legal protection when performing<br>\ntheir duties here and Philippine troops participating in training<br>\nin Britain would enjoy a similar status.<\/p>\n<p>The source said Philippine Foreign Secretary Domingo Siazon<br>\nasked Cook during their meeting on Saturday if Britain would be<br>\n\"agreeable to a reciprocal agreement\" and Cook said that he<br>\nwould.<\/p>\n<p>Britain has been seeking an agreement for joint military<br>\ntraining in this country but would need a \"Status of Forces<br>\nAgreement\" covering the legal jurisdiction of their troops here.<\/p>",
