        "content": "<p>REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG \u2013 The State Islamic University (UIN)\nWalisongo in Semarang has obtained the identity of a lecturer suspected\nof sexually harassing a female student on the campus. However, the\nprocess of gathering evidence, including witness statements, is still\nongoing.<\/p>\n<p>The Head of the Centre for Gender and Child Studies (PSGA) at UIN\nWalisongo Semarang, Kurnia Muhajarah, revealed that her team received\ninformation about the alleged sexual harassment case involving a\nlecturer on 5 May 2026. Upon receiving the information, they immediately\nbegan the investigation and evidence collection process.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kurnia, to date, no female student alleged to be the\nvictim has officially reported the suspected sexual harassment case.\nNevertheless, her team continues to deepen the investigation and gather\nevidence.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf the suspicion (regarding the perpetrator) is already there and\npointing in a certain direction, but since it is still just a suspicion,\nit cannot yet be made public,\u201d said Kurnia after attending a public\ndialogue and free podium event organised by UIN Walisongo students to\ndiscuss sexual violence cases on campus, on Monday (11\/5\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>She added that the task of the PPKS Task Force and PSGA at UIN\nWalisongo is only to investigate and collect evidence related to the\nalleged sexual harassment case committed by the lecturer. \u201cSummoning the\nsuspect and so on is not within the remit of the PPKS Task Force,\u201d she\nstated.<\/p>\n<p>According to Kurnia, summoning the suspected perpetrator will later\nfall under the authority of the university leadership and the ethics\ncommittee at UIN Walisongo. \u201cWe have reported the preliminary\ninvestigation results to the leadership. So we are already in process,\u201d\nshe said.<\/p>\n<p>To facilitate and accelerate the investigation process, Kurnia urged\nthe alleged victim to report the incident. She guaranteed that the\nalleged victim\u2019s identity would be protected and kept confidential. \u201cSo\nplease, the victim should speak up and report,\u201d said Kurnia.<\/p>\n<p>During the public dialogue and free podium, several UIN students\nexpressed their criticism of the sexual harassment case in various ways,\nsuch as speeches and poetry readings. They also unfurled a banner\nreading \u201cReject Sexual Violence\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s action shows reflection that students strongly reject the\noccurrence of sexual violence at UIN Walisongo,\u201d said Farid Muhammad,\nCoordinator of Eksospol from the UIN Walisongo Student Study Group, when\ninterviewed during the event.<\/p>",
