Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta has\ndispatched 3,725 students to participate in the 120th Community Service\nProgramme (KKN) for 2026. Of these, 20 students were selected for\ninternational placements after passing programme presentation and\ninterview stages. The 20 students will be stationed in Malaysia,\nThailand, Japan, and South Korea, with five students assigned to each\ncountry. The remaining students will undertake regular KKN programmes\nwithin the Special Region of Yogyakarta and various other regions across\nIndonesia.<\/p>\n
Rector of UIN Sunan Kalijaga Yogyakarta, Prof Noorhaidi, stated that\nthis year\u2019s KKN adopts the theme \u2018Utilising Knowledge and Service\nInnovation for Sustainable Development\u2019. He noted that this is one of\nthe university\u2019s largest community service programmes, with a scope\nextending internationally. \u2018You have also heard from the Head of LPPM\nhow we strive to support an exceptional KKN. The international KKN to\nJapan, Korea, Thailand, and Malaysia involves significant funding. There\nare also placements outside Java, including Aceh, West Kalimantan, Bali,\nEast Nusa Tenggara, and Maluku,\u2019 he said during the send-off ceremony on\nTuesday.<\/p>\n
The international and out-of-Java KKN programmes are supported by\nvarious partners, including the Yogyakarta Representative Office of Bank\nIndonesia. Prof Noorhaidi expressed hope that all participants would\ndeliver programmes with a real, sustainable impact on communities,\nespecially as UIN Sunan Kalijaga has established an SDGs Centre as a\ncommitment to sustainable development. The university recently achieved\na global ranking of 601\u2013800 in the Times Higher Education Sustainability\nImpact Rankings. \u2018KKN must make a real contribution to society. This\nsustainability theme is also aligned with the Sustainable Development\nGoals, which are a global development agenda,\u2019 he said. He urged\nstudents to demonstrate that UIN Sunan Kalijaga is a superior, leading\nuniversity with a global reputation and to uphold the good name of their\nalma mater, along with morality, principles, ethics, and\ntogetherness.<\/p>\n
Dr Abdul Qoyum, Head of the Institute for Research and Community\nService (LPPM), confirmed that all participants have been registered\nwith BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for protection during their service. Transport\nfunds have also been disbursed to group leaders prior to departure. He\nadvised students to prioritise safety during their activities.<\/p>\n
Sabrina Nailah, a student selected for the Malaysia programme,\nexpressed her gratitude for the opportunity.
