        "content": "<p>A lecturer at the State Islamic University (UIN) Sulthan Thaha\nSaifuddin Jambi, initialled DK, was raided by his wife and residents\nwhile in a boarding house with a female student. Deputy Chairman of\nCommission X of the DPR, Lalu Hadrian Irfani, stated that the university\nmust be firm in imposing sanctions on DK. Initially, Hadrian said the\nuniversity\u2019s step to deactivate DK was appropriate. This is an initial\nstep to ensure the examination process runs objectively and\ntransparently. \u201cIn my view, the university needs to take firm steps, but\nstill based on a fair and measured disciplinary process,\u201d Hadrian\nexplained to reporters on Monday (4\/5\/2026). The handling of the case,\nhe added, must refer to the lecturer\u2019s code of ethics, applicable\ndisciplinary regulations, as well as the university\u2019s statutes and\ninternal rules. Through an official investigation, Hadrian said,\nsanctions can be imposed proportionally according to the level of\nviolation, ranging from severe warnings to dismissal if proven to be a\nserious violation. \u201cThis firmness is important, but it must still be\nbased on evidence, procedures, and principles of justice to maintain the\ninstitution\u2019s integrity,\u201d he continued. For him, lecturers not only\nserve as educators but also as moral exemplars in the academic\nenvironment. \u201cTherefore, incidents like this have the potential to\ndamage public trust and injure the institution\u2019s dignity,\u201d Hadrian\nstated. \u201cIn my opinion, this case is a violation of the lecturer\u2019s code\nof ethics, particularly regarding professionalism, power relations\nbetween lecturers and students, and personal integrity,\u201d he added.\nPreviously, the lecturer initialled DK was raided by his wife and\nresidents while in a boarding house with a female student from one of\nthe state universities in Jambi. DK was in the midst of an intimate\nencounter with the female student. DK\u2019s wife conducted the raid\naccompanied by the RT Chairman, the Ward Head, police, and the village\nmilitary outpost after conducting surveillance. UIN Sulthan Thaha\nSaifuddin Jambi regrets the occurrence of the incident. \u201cIn connection\nwith this, UIN STS Jambi deeply regrets and apologises for the raiding\nincident involving one of the rogue lecturers. We will immediately\nconduct a deeper investigation to take firm action,\u201d said the Rector of\nUIN STS Jambi, Prof Kasful Anwar, in a written statement as reported by\ndetikSumbagsel on Sunday (3\/5\/2026). UIN STS Jambi has taken firm action\nagainst the rogue lecturer. DK has now been temporarily deactivated from\nhis additional position as deputy dean.
