Arisman, a lecturer from the Development Economics Study Programme at\nthe Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), UIN Syarif Hidayatullah\nJakarta, has been selected to participate in the ASEAN Visiting Scholars\nProgram in Taiwan. The programme brings together academics and\nresearchers from several Southeast Asian nations to discuss the economic\nand political developments of the region.<\/p>\n
Arisman, who also serves as the Director of the Centre for Southeast\nAsian Studies (CSEAS), is one of six lecturers and researchers\nparticipating in the programme. The delegation includes representatives\nfrom Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam.<\/p>\n
The Dean of FEB UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Ibnu Qizam, stated\nthat cross-border collaboration is essential for enhancing the quality\nof teaching and research within higher education institutions.<\/p>\n
\u201cFEB UIN Jakarta is consistently striving towards\ninternationalisation for both lecturers and students through various\nglobal cooperation breakthroughs. The involvement of academics in\ninternational research networks is a vital key to bringing local ideas\nto the world stage, while simultaneously strengthening the quality\nstandards of the university,\u201d Ibnu Qizam said in a written statement on\nWednesday (16\/09\/2026).<\/p>\n
While in Taipei, the academics are scheduled to participate in a\nseries of dialogues with officials and experts in Taiwan to discuss\nregional economic and political dynamics. The agenda includes meetings\nwith Taiwan\u2019s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, leaders from the\nChung-Hua Institution for Economic Research, academics from Tamkang\nUniversity, and executives from the Industrial Technology Research\nInstitute and the Hsinchu Science Park Bureau.<\/p>\n
These meetings serve as a platform to deepen the understanding of\ncross-sectoral relations between Taiwan and ASEAN nations, covering\nareas such as investment cooperation, trade, and technological\ninnovation.<\/p>\n
For Arisman, the programme in Taiwan marks his fourth international\nfellowship during his academic career. Previously, he served as a\nResearch Fellow for three months at Western Sydney University,\nAustralia, through the Australia Awards scheme.<\/p>\n
Arisman has also participated in a fellowship programme from the\nUnited States Department of State in Washington D.C.
