Depok (ANTARA) - Universitas Indonesia (UI) has officially changed\nits institutional nomenclature from the Vocational Education Programme\nto the UI Vocational School to strengthen governance, relevance, and the\napplied higher education ecosystem in Indonesia.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis is a historic momentum in the name change from the UI\nVocational Education Programme to the UI Vocational School. Previously,\nUI Vocational managed assets and human resources autonomously. This new\nname is also in line with higher education institutions in Indonesia and\ninternationally that provide vocational education,\u201d said UI Rector Heri\nHermansyah in Depok on Friday.<\/p>\n
The change in nomenclature from \u201cProgramme\u201d to \u201cSchool\u201d represents a\nstrategic step for UI Vocational, moving from being merely a provider of\nlearning processes to a complete and independent applied higher\neducation institution.<\/p>\n
The use of the term \u201cSchool\u201d adopts global vocational education\npractices (School) to represent an academic entity that is adaptive and\nautonomous in integrating education, applied research, innovation, and\ncommunity service.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, the Director of the UI Vocational School, Safrin Arifin,\nstated that the readiness of the UI Vocational School to undertake this\nnew mandate is supported by a solid track record of institutional\ngovernance. This is evidenced by achieving Rank I in the 2023 UI\nPerformance Contract (Kokin), Rank II in the UI Integrity Zone Award\nconsecutively in 2022 and 2023, and Rank I in the 2025 UI\nGreenMetric.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis institutional foundation is further strengthened by a series of\nachievements by lecturers, educational staff, and students in various\nnational and international scientific arenas,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
Through the establishment of this new nomenclature, the UI Vocational\nSchool reaffirms its commitment to continuously producing graduates who\npossess not only knowledge and skills but also a professional work\nattitude, ensuring they are ready to contribute to national development\nand remain competitive at a high level.<\/p>\n
