        "content": "<p>Depok (ANTARA) - Rector of Universitas Indonesia (UI), Prof.\u00a0Heri\nHermansyah, outlined that the ASEAN region possesses a strategic\nopportunity to become a new global hub for higher education growth.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHowever, it requires strengthening cross-border collaborations,\nimproving the quality of joint research, and utilising data as a basis\nfor policy-making so that higher education institutions in this region\ncan enhance their competitiveness while delivering tangible impacts for\nsociety,\u201d said Prof.\u00a0Heri Hermansyah during the \u201cIn-Depth Briefing:\nASEAN Higher Education\u201d session at the QS China Summit 2026, as quoted\nin his statement in Depok on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>In his presentation based on the latest Quacquarelli Symonds (QS)\nreport, Heri highlighted ASEAN\u2019s main strengths, which lie in its young\ndemographics, increasing education investments, and growing regional\ncollaborations.<\/p>\n<p>Nevertheless, he emphasised that this potential needs to be\naccelerated through stronger integration between higher education\ninstitutions, industry, and data-based public policies.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the importance of enhancing student and faculty\nmobility as an instrument to strengthen knowledge exchange and\ninnovation in the region.<\/p>\n<p>The presentation was part of the QS China Summit 2026 series, held on\n8\u20139 April 2026 at Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen.<\/p>\n<p>With the theme \u201cConnected Cities, Collaborative Campuses\u201d, this forum\ndiscussed the transformation of higher education through four main\npillars: skills and workforce development, world-class university\nstrategies, international mobility, and accelerating research and\ntechnology.<\/p>\n<p>The presence of UI\u2019s Rector at this forum affirms Universitas\nIndonesia\u2019s active role in the global higher education landscape, while\nstrengthening UI\u2019s position as a strategic partner in developing\ncollaborations in the Asia-Pacific region.
