        "content": "<p>Rector of Universitas Indonesia Heri Hermansyah stated that the\ncollaboration with Tsinghua University in developing an mRNA-based\ndengue fever vaccine will yield a multiplier effect, including\nindustrial downstreaming and strengthening the National Immunisation\nProgramme. Speaking at the launch of the dengue vaccine prototype in\nJakarta on Wednesday, Heri described the collaboration as a form of\nhigh-level academic diplomacy and expressed hope that the joint vaccine\ndevelopment would mark a significant milestone in the national health\nsystem. \u2018We are not just initiating student exchanges. We are actively\nworking together to create life-saving health technology, with support\nfrom the Ministry of Health and the Food and Drug Supervisory Agency\n(BPOM),\u2019 he said. According to Heri, the government has facilitated the\ncooperation well, enabling the initial laboratory testing phase through\nto clinical trials to proceed smoothly. He expressed hope that the\ncollaboration would be the start of vaccine innovation, aligning with\nHealth Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin\u2019s request for the development of 11\nvaccines so that all vaccines used in the National Immunisation\nProgramme can be produced domestically by Indonesia. On the same\noccasion, Vice President of Tsinghua University Wu Huaqiang stated that\nthe collaboration represents a tangible outcome of cooperation between\nChina and Indonesia. \u2018Dengue fever has long plagued Southeast Asia.\nTraditional vaccine platforms have certain limitations, whereas mRNA\ntechnology offers new opportunities to develop safer vaccines that can\nbe adapted to local systems,\u2019 he said. With support from the Beijing\nInternational Science and Technology Cooperation Base, Wu noted that\nTsinghua University and UI have a strong foundation for joint research\nto address this issue. The collaboration, formalised on Wednesday, has\nthree objectives: enhancing mRNA vaccine research capacity and exploring\nother vaccine collaboration opportunities, developing biotechnology\ntalent through academic partnerships, and contributing a replicable\nmodel for a joint response to regional infectious disease threats.<\/p>",
