        "content": "<p>UI appointed to study Tanah Abang<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: The City Council has appointed a University of<br>\nIndonesia team to give a second opinion on a study suggesting<br>\nbuildings in Tanah Abang market were structurally unsafe.<\/p>\n<p>Council investigation team head Maringan Pangaribuan said the<br>\ncouncil would pay for the cost of the study made by UI's<br>\nTechnology Research Body.<\/p>\n<p>The earlier Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) study cost<br>\nabout Rp 120 million (US$13,333, institute researcher Dradjat<br>\nHoedajanto said. It concluded the buildings were in danger of<br>\ncollapsing in an earthquake and recommended strengthening or<br>\ndemolition.<\/p>\n<p>Maringan said the council's recommendation on the dispute over<br>\nthe planned demolition of the market would depend on the results<br>\nof UI's study.<\/p>\n<p>The city administration plans to demolish four blocks -- B, C,<br>\nD, and E as recommended by the ITB experts.
