UGM launches Techno Center<\/p>\n
In a bid to help fulfill its pledge to make itself a research
\nuniversity as well as a people's university, Gadjah Mada
\nUniversity (UGM) launched on Monday its Techno Center, a center
\nfor information, training and innovative technology.<\/p>\n
According to Agus Dwiyanto, UGM vice rector overseeing
\nbusiness cooperation and development, the center was designed as
\na one-stop agency for transfer of technology, industrial systems
\ndevelopment, establishment of start-up companies in the
\nmanufacturing and service sectors and development of
\ncollaboration between the university and business community.<\/p>\n
"This is essential, especially because we have so much
\ntechnological potential," Agus Dwiyanto said.<\/p>\n
This included, said Agus, vaccine production, developing
\nsilkworm plantations and products, biotechnology, post-biotic and
\npre-biotic products, natural products to fight cancer, a test
\nsystem for production quality and military equipment
