UBSI Purwokerto student Farras Syafiqur Raihan has made it to the finals of the Mas Mbak Batik Jawa Tengah 2026 competition, advocating for youth engagement with batik as a living cultural identity. He emphasises that batik’s rich heritage must be presented in a modern, relatable way to inspire pride among younger generations. The event, set for July 2026 in Solo, underscores the importance of cultural preservation as part of national identity.

Amid the rapid tide of modern trends and instant culture flooding
social media, there are still young people choosing to carry cultural
heritage on their shoulders. Farras Syafiqur Raihan, a student at
Universitas Bina Sarana Informatika (UBSI) Purwokerto, known as a
Creative Digital Campus, has advanced to the finals of the Mas Mbak
Batik Jawa Tengah 2026 competition.

For Farras, this event holds deeper significance beyond appearing
stylish on stage or wearing batik with flair. He carries a mission to
reignite young people’s love for their own culture.

The Mas Mbak Batik Jawa Tengah 2026 finals will take place on 18-19
July 2026 at TA TV Solo, serving as a prestigious platform for youth to
demonstrate their commitment to preserving batik as a national
identity.

Farras acknowledges that introducing culture to today’s youth is not
easy. Everything must be presented in a relatable, fresh, and everyday
manner. He aims to be a modern youth representative who does not forget
cultural roots.

‘Batik is not outdated. It has stories, philosophy, and a cool
identity when presented correctly. I want young people to see culture
not as an obligation, but as a source of pride,’ he said.

The journey to the finals was not instant. Behind his calm smile lies
a lengthy process: deepening knowledge of batik culture, honing public
speaking skills, building confidence, and preparing mentally to perform
before large audiences.

For Farras, this process has been the most valuable. The competition
has provided him space to grow, better understand himself, and learn how
to convey cultural messages in a way that resonates with today’s
youth.

UBSI Purwokerto’s academic community fully supports Farras’s
participation. His presence in the finals demonstrates that UBSI
students are not only focused on academics but also excel in arts,
culture, communication, and personal development.

To many, batik may seem like merely a beautifully patterned fabric.
But for young people like Farras, it becomes a story, an identity, and a
means to keep culture alive in an ever-changing world.

‘I hope to deliver my best performance at the finals—not just for
myself, but for my campus and all young people who believe culture can
be cool, modern, and something to be proud of,’ Farras said.
",
