Universities and the industrial world often travel along separate\npaths. Yet, when the two are brought together, the space for producing\nknowledge, experience and innovation more relevant to society\u2019s needs\nbecomes far more open.<\/p>\n
That spirit underpins the collaboration between Universitas Bina\nSarana Informatika (UBSI) and the Centre for Standardisation and Service\nof the Craft and Batik Industry (BBSPJIKB), marked by the signing of a\nmemorandum of understanding (MoU) on 29 August 2026 at the BSI\nConvention Center Kaliabang in Bekasi.<\/p>\n
The MoU was signed by UBSI Rector Prof.\u00a0Dr.\u00a0Ir. Mochamad Wahyudi and\nBBSPJIKB Head Zya Labiba. The partnership forms the foundation for both\nparties to develop various collaborative programmes in education,\nstudent research, community service and human resource development.<\/p>\n
The collaboration is directed not only at exchanging knowledge but\nalso at optimising the potential each party holds. UBSI and BBSPJIKB\nagreed to encourage development and innovation in science, technology\nand the arts by leveraging available resources to benefit society.<\/p>\n
In education, the collaboration can take shape through industrial\nplacements or student internships, lecturer industrial attachments to\nenhance competence, knowledge sharing, and the involvement of industry\npractitioners as lecturers. Through such schemes, students and lecturers\nalike can gain experience closer to the needs and dynamics of the\nindustrial world.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile, in student research, the cooperation can be directed\ntowards supervising final-year projects or theses, particularly research\nrelated to crafts and batik. In community service, both parties can\ndevelop empowerment programmes, training and social responsibility\nactivities targeting societal needs.<\/p>\n
Prof.\u00a0Wahyudi said the collaboration is expected not to stop at the\nsigning of a document, but to be genuinely translated into activities\nthat benefit various parties.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis cooperation is expected not to end with the signing of\ndocuments, but to be realised through various activities that deliver\nreal benefits for students, lecturers, society, and the development of\nthe craft and batik industry,\u201d said Prof.\u00a0Wahyudi in a press release\nreceived on Monday (14\/9).<\/p>\n
According to him, working with an institution possessing industrial\nexpertise also opens space for the university to contribute more\nrelevantly to the needs of industry. This aligns with UBSI\u2019s efforts to\nstrengthen the implementation of the three pillars of higher education \u2014\neducation, research and community service \u2014 so they not only take place\nwithin the campus but also deliver broader impact.<\/p>\n
Echoing this, BBSPJIKB Head Zya Labiba said the collaboration with\nUBSI can become a space to strengthen synergy between higher education\ninstitutions and government bodies, particularly in developing human\nresources, science and technology to support the craft and batik\nindustry.<\/p>\n

BBSPJIKB is a government implementing agency tasked with industrial\nstandardisation, optimising the use of industrial technology and\nIndustry 4.0, green industry, and craft and batik industry services.\nUBSI, meanwhile, carries out the three pillars of higher education\nthrough education, research and community service.<\/p>\n
Collaboration does not stop at the MoU<\/p>\n
Interestingly, the cooperation between UBSI and BBSPJIKB has also\nbegun to be directed towards more concrete activities. As an initial\nimplementation, both parties agreed to hold a national seminar entitled\n\u201cCollaboration for the Development of the Craft and Batik Industry in\nIndonesia\u201d, formalised through a cooperation agreement (PKS) on\norganising the national seminar for UBSI lecturers.<\/p>\n
Under the agreement, BBSPJIKB will provide seminar speakers, whilst\nUBSI will prepare the event organisation along with supporting\nfacilities and infrastructure. This scheme serves as one example of how\nthe mutual understanding built by both parties is beginning to be\ntranslated into academic activity.<\/p>\n
The collaboration between UBSI and BBSPJIKB is expected to continue\ndeveloping through programmes that connect the needs of higher education\nwith industrial developments.
