UBM, Monash Malaysia offer double degree<\/p>\n

Bunda Mulia University (UBM) in Ancol, North Jakarta, signed an
\nagreement with Monash University of Malaysia on Saturday for a
\njoint academic program for a double bachelor's degree in business
\nand economics.<\/p>\n
The agreement was signed by Bunda Mulia Education Foundation
\nchairwoman Rita Djoko Susanto and Monash Malaysia's pro-vice
\nchancellor Merilyn J. Liddel.<\/p>\n
The agreement is an extension of an ongoing cooperation
\nbetween the two universities that includes organizing seminars in
\nretail management.<\/p>\n
"Monash University is highly regarded in Indonesia for its
\nhigh academic standards and world-class research. In addition,
\nMonash's Malaysian campus makes it easier and cost effective for
\nour students," UMB said in a statement.<\/p>\n
Bunda Mulia University's International Program coordinator
\nEvelyn told The Jakarta Post the agreement with Monash University
\nwould allow third year students at the school to continue their
\nstudies at Monash's Malaysian campus.<\/p>\n
"After three semesters at Monash, they have an option of
\ncontinuing another semester at Bunda Mulia for a double degree,"
\nshe said, explaining that the double degree is for a Bachelor of
\nBusiness and Commerce (Accounting) from Monash University and a
\nBachelor of Business from Bunda Mulia University.<\/p>\n
Evelyn said interest in the program was high and that eligible
\nstudents would begin their term at Monash Malaysia in July.<\/p>\n
"Right now they are upgrading their English to meet Monash's
\nTOEFL standard," she said.<\/p>\n
Monash University Malaysia was established on February 23,
\n1998, in Bandar Sunway at the invitation of the Malaysian
\ngovernment. Its establishment was a joint venture between Monash
\nUniversity in Australia and Malaysia's Sunway Group.<\/p>\n
As one of eight Monash campuses, Monash Malaysia must meet the
\nuniversity's standards in academic development, teaching and
\nstudent support.<\/p>",
