The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has secretly retaliated against\nattacks from Iran. The UAE\u2019s strikes are reported to have targeted an\noil refinery in Iran.<\/p>\n
Since early May 2026, the UAE Ministry of Defence has reported that\nits air defence systems intercepted 15 missiles and four drones launched\nfrom Iranian territory. It is stated that at least 12 ballistic\nmissiles, three cruise missiles, and four drones launched from Iran\ntowards its territory were intercepted throughout Monday (4 May). Three\npeople were injured as a result of the attack.<\/p>\n
In the aftermath of the attack, the UAE affirmed that it has the\n\u201cfull and legitimate right\u201d to respond to Iran\u2019s latest assault.<\/p>\n
Three days later, another airstrike was detected launched from\nIranian territory. At least three people sustained injuries from the\nattack.<\/p>\n
However, the UAE Ministry of Defence did not provide further details\non the location of the attack or more information about the injured\nvictims.<\/p>\n
UAE authorities issued a warning on Friday morning (8 May) at 06:43\nlocal time, announcing that the country was responding to a threat.<\/p>\n
UAE residents were urged to remain in safe places and await the\nlatest information from official government channels.<\/p>\n
UAE\u2019s Secret Strikes on Iran<\/strong><\/p>\n The UAE is reported to have secretly launched a series of retaliatory\nattacks against Iran. Citing Anadolu Agency on Tuesday (12 May 2026),\nleading US media outlet the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) revealed this,\nquoting several anonymous sources familiar with the strikes.<\/p>\n One of the UAE\u2019s strike targets, according to sources cited by WSJ in\nits latest report on Monday (11 May) local time, was an oil refinery on\nIran\u2019s Lavan Island.<\/p>\n The WSJ report stated that the Iranian oil refinery was hit by a UAE\nattack in early April or around the time US President Donald Trump was\nset to announce a ceasefire with Tehran. The strike reportedly triggered\na major fire and crippled the facility.<\/p>\n Iran then retaliated by launching ballistic missile and drone attacks\non UAE and Kuwaiti territories.<\/p>\n US Welcomes UAE\u2019s Involvement in War Against\nIran<\/strong><\/p>\n One source cited by WSJ also said the US is secretly welcoming the\nUAE\u2019s entry into the war against Iran. According to the WSJ report, Iran\nhas targeted the UAE with more attacks than other Gulf states hosting US\nmilitary assets, even surpassing retaliatory strikes against Israel.<\/p>\n Tehran has launched over 2,800 missile and drone attacks on targets\nin the UAE since the war erupted in late February.<\/p>\n According to several unnamed Abu Dhabi officials, these Iranian\nattacks have caused significant damage to the UAE\u2019s economy, triggering\nlayoffs and forced leave.<\/p>\n \u201cThey have also prompted a fundamental shift in the country\u2019s\nstrategic outlook, now viewing Iran as a malevolent actor determined to\ndestroy the UAE\u2019s talent-based expatriate economy and its reputation for\nsecurity and stability,\u201d the UAE official stated.<\/p>\n So far, there has been no official comment from the UAE Ministry of\nForeign Affairs regarding the WSJ report. Abu Dhabi authorities have\nonly emphasised previous statements underscoring the UAE\u2019s right to\nrespond to hostile actions.<\/p>\n \u201cIt is very significant to see a Gulf country become a belligerent\nparty launching direct attacks on Iran.
