        "content": "<p>JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates\n(UAE) to Indonesia, Abdulla Salem Al Dhaheri, stated that the ceasefire\nbetween the United States (US), Israel, and Iran is something that has\nlong been advocated by countries in the Middle East region.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have always called for de-escalation, ceasefire, and discussions\nin diplomatic forums; we do not want any escalation,\u201d Abdulla said\nduring a press conference at the UAE Ambassador\u2019s residence in Jakarta\non Wednesday (8\/4\/2026).<\/p>\n<p>Abdulla said that countries in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)\nhope that the 14-day ceasefire period ahead can be well utilised by both\nparties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe hope that within these two weeks, we can reach an agreement to\nbring about stability, so that we can work towards achieving prosperity\nfor our countries,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe must see the Strait of Hormuz moving because we do not want to\nsee the destruction of supply chains,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Abdulla emphasised that no party wants prices of goods to soar and no\none wants disruptions that affect their country.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDisruptions will only set us back.
