Two wounded in armed robbery<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A father and son were severely wounded in an
\narmed robbery yesterday at their residence on Jl. Damai Gg.
\nMusyawarah No. 27 in Pondok Labu, Cilandak, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Five men brandishing sharp weapons reportedly attacked Achmad,
\n40, and his son Ari Kurniawan, 18, when they broke into the house
\nat 2 a.m.<\/p>\n
The two victims are currently being treated at Cipto
\nMangunkusumo General Hospital. Achmad was still listed in
\ncritical condition as of 1 p.m. yesterday.<\/p>\n
South Jakarta Police detective chief Maj. Rycko Amelza Daniel
\ntold The Jakarta Post that the five unidentified men broke into
\nthe house through the front door using a crowbar. They reportedly
\nrushed into Achmad's bedroom, asking for money.<\/p>\n
"The robbers got away with Rp 85,000 in cash, a 15-gram gold
\nnecklace and car documents," he said.<\/p>\n
Before they ran away, Achmad tried to stop them, and that was
\nwhen the men attacked him and his son, Rycko said.<\/p>\n
Achmad suffered from a severe slash wound to the chest and Ari
\nsustained cuts to his head and stomach.<\/p>\n
A witness, Achmad's youngest son Halim, reportedly told police
\nthat he heard his father yell at the intruders: "What are you
\ndoing here?"<\/p>\n
"That's why we think that the alleged robbers must have been
\nknown by the victims," Rycko said.<\/p>\n
A group of youths at the housing complex reported to the
\npolice that they saw the five men walk toward the house.<\/p>\n
"The five men were saying something about getting money back
\nfrom the victim," the youngsters were quoted by Rycko as saying.<\/p>\n
There is a possibility that the case is not a pure robbery,
\nRycko added. "The case may have something to do with some unpaid
\ndebts."<\/p>\n
"Hopefully the case, which will be handled by officers of
\nSouth Jakarta Police Precinct and the Cilandak Police
\nSubprecinct, can be solved soon. We have men at the hospital to
\ndig up more information on the case."<\/p>\n
Separately, Pulogadung police captured a man yesterday
\nsuspected of murdering a high school student a week ago at
\nPisangan Lama under the elevated Cawang-Tanjung Priok toll road
\nin East Jakarta.<\/p>\n
The suspect, Yayah, 19, has reportedly admitted to having
\nkilled Iskandar Habib, 16, a Panglima Jayakarta high school
\nstudent, over unpaid debts.<\/p>\n
"Iskandar's parents became suspicious when he didn't return
\nhome and reported it to the police. The last time they saw
\nIskandar was when he went out with Yayah to a place in Tanjung
\nPriok, North Jakarta," a police officer, who asked not to be
\nnamed, said.<\/p>\n
After thoroughly interrogating Yayah, he eventually admitted
\nto have killed Iskandar because he could not afford to return
\nmoney he had borrowed from the victim.<\/p>\n
Lt. Col. Syahrir Kuba of the East Jakarta precinct said Yayah
\nadmitted to killing Iskandar with the help of three of his
\nfriends.<\/p>\n
"We're currently looking for the other suspects. Hopefully we
