        "content": "<p>Two Thais among coalition troops slain in Iraq attacks<\/p>\n<p>Agencies<br>\nKarbala, Iraq<\/p>\n<p>Armed with car bombs, mortars and machine guns, insurgents <br>\nlaunched three coordinated attacks in the southern city of <br>\nKarbala on Saturday, killing four coalition soldiers, six Iraqi <br>\npolice officers and one civilian, military and hospital officials <br>\nsaid.<\/p>\n<p>Two Thai soldiers were among those killed, a Thai foreign <br>\nministry spokesman said.<\/p>\n<p>\"The two soldiers were killed in a suicide bomb attack at the <br>\nLima camp,\" foreign ministry spokesman Sihasak Phuangketkeow told <br>\nReuters.<\/p>\n<p>At least 37 other coalition soldiers, including five <br>\nAmericans, were injured, U.S. Army Brig. Gen. Mark Kimmitt in <br>\nBaghdad. Some 135 Iraqi civilians and police officers were also <br>\nwounded, said Ali al-Arzawi, deputy head of Karbala General <br>\nHospital.<\/p>\n<p>\"It was a coordinated, massive attack planned for a big scale <br>\nand intended to do much harm,\" said Maj. Gen. Andrzej <br>\nTyszkiewicz, head of the Polish-led multinational force <br>\nresponsible for security around Karbala. We have <br>\nsent rapid reaction forces and 10 helicopters,\" Tyszkiewicz said.<\/p>\n<p>The drivers of the car bombs were shot before they could enter <br>\nthe military bases, Tyszkiewicz said.<\/p>\n<p>One car bomb detonated in front of the main Iraqi police <br>\nstation in Karbala, injuring five soldiers from the U.S. Army's <br>\n18th Military Police Brigade as well as an undetermined number of <br>\nIraqi police, said Lt. Col. Tom Evans, deputy commander of the <br>\nbrigade.<\/p>\n<p>None of the American injuries was life-threatening, and two <br>\nmen were detained in connection with the bombing, Evans said.<\/p>\n<p>\"There were different types of attacks at different places,\" <br>\nsaid U.S. Maj.
