        "content": "<p>The Bener Meriah Police in Aceh have named two high school students\nas suspects in an alleged assault case against a fellow student in the\ndistrict.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the latest development, investigators have named two students,\nwith the initials RA (17) and HR (16), as suspects,\u201d said Head of the\nCriminal Investigation Unit of Bener Meriah Police, First Inspector\nJulpandi, in Bener Meriah, as quoted on Wednesday, 26 August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, a high school student with the initial T (16) was\nallegedly assaulted by several other students in the Burni Telong\nvillage area, Wih Pesam District, Bener Meriah Regency, on Saturday, 22\nAugust 2026. A video recording of the incident subsequently went viral\non social media.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of the incident, the victim suffered injuries and is\nstill undergoing treatment at Datu Beru Takengon Hospital in Central\nAceh Regency.<\/p>\n<p>The case was then reported to the Integrated Police Service Centre of\nBener Meriah Police on Sunday, 23 August 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Julpandi said the suspects were named after investigators examined\nwitnesses and assessed that the evidence obtained was sufficient to\ndetermine the legal status of the two students.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, both are still minors, so the legal process is\nbeing conducted with reference to Law Number 35 of 2014 on Amendments to\nLaw Number 23 of 2002 on Child Protection, as well as Law Number 11 of\n2012 on the Juvenile Criminal Justice System.<\/p>\n<p>He said police have so far examined six witnesses and secured the\nclothing worn during the incident and video recordings stored on mobile\nphones as evidence.<\/p>\n<p>Investigators have also conducted a series of examinations to uncover\nthe sequence of events.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, investigators are coordinating with the Class II\nLhokseumawe Correctional Centre, Bener Meriah social workers, and public\nprosecutors while completing the case file.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are ensuring that the case handling process is carried out\nprofessionally and in accordance with legal procedures, while still\npaying attention to the best interests of the child and ensuring that\nall facts of the incident are revealed objectively,\u201d said Julpandi.<\/p>",
