Two policemen face the chop for drug possession<\/p>\n

Two city police officers arrested for possessing putaw (low-grade
\nheroin) last week will be dishonorably discharged from the
\nservice, an officer says.<\/p>\n
City police chief Insp. Gen. Firman Gani said the city
\npolice's internal affairs had found enough evidence to prove the
\ntwo offices were guilty. Both men are being detained at the
\npolice detention center.<\/p>\n
\"We will soon dismiss them from the police force as we can't
\ntolerate an officer being involved with drugs. As law enforcers,
\nwe should set a good example,\" Firman said.<\/p>\n
The two officers will also be brought before a disciplinary
\ncommittee to determine whether they should be taken to court.<\/p>\n
Chief Brig. Agus Salim Hasibuan, 30, was arrested on Wednesday
\nin Rawa Jati, Pancoran, South Jakarta, while Chief Brig. Jabir
\nJamal was apprehended in Pasar Minggu, South Jakarta.<\/p>\n
Both were reportedly in possession of a half kilogram of putaw
\nwhen they were arrested.<\/p>\n
City police spokesman Sr. Comr. Tjiptono said that Agus was
\narrested after police received information from two suspected
\ndrug dealers, identified as Gunawan and Deni, earlier last week.<\/p>\n
\"Gunawan and Deni said they obtained their drugs from Agus. We
\nsearched for Agus and found him in Pancoran and then we arrested
\nJabir in Pasar Minggu,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Tjiptono said the internal affairs department was
\ninvestigating whether either of them were members of a drug
\ntrafficking syndicate.<\/p>\n
Agus and Jabir were members of the riot squad at city police
\nheadquarters.<\/p>\n
The arrests of Agus and Jabir are just two cases involving
\npolice officers in drug dealing.<\/p>\n
In April, the National Narcotics Agency (BNN) apprehended
\nthree police officers for drug dealing. The three, identified as
\nCentral Jakarta Police drug unit members Brig. Boby Siagian,
\nBrig. Fauzan and Brig. Yanuar, were arrested at a rave party in
\nIntan Ratu Hotel, Central Jakarta.<\/p>\n
BNN seized 10 grams of shabu-shabu (crystal methamphetamine)
\nfrom the hotel room.<\/p>\n
Earlier, a police officer identified as Brig. AS was brought
\nbefore the police's disciplinary committee for selling drugs,
\nsupposedly to be used as evidence, to his neighbors to earn money
\nto pay off his debts.<\/p>\n
The committee ruled that Brig. AS should be dismissed from the
\nforce.<\/p>",
