Two officers court-martialled<\/p>\n
DENPASAR, Bali: Three army officers will be brought to
\nmilitary court here this week for their roles in the Jan. 12
\nkilling of six people in Liquisa, East Timor, the local military
\nchief said yesterday.<\/p>\n
"I would like to stress that we have no intention to hide
\nanything in the Liquisa affair," said chief of the Udayana
\nmilitary command Maj. Gen. Adang Ruchiatna, who oversees security
\nin Bali, Nusa Tenggara and East Timor.<\/p>\n
Adang identified the soldiers to be brought to trial as First
\nLt. Jermias Kase and First Private Rusdin Maubere, the official
\nnews agency Antara reported.<\/p>\n
The military wants to show the international community that
\nthe Armed Forces will not cover up anything about the incident,
\nwhich sparked an outcry in Indonesia and abroad.<\/p>\n
At the first hearings, the court will hear from 11 witnesses,
\nincluding the Liquisa military chief Lt. Col. Tris Suryawan,
\nDadang said.<\/p>\n
National and international complaints prompted the Armed
\nForces and the National Commission on Human Rights to conduct
