Two new military command chiefs of staff installed<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Brig. Gen. Achmad Yahya and Brig. Gen. Albert
\nInkiriwang were installed on Tuesday as the new chiefs of staff
\nof the Jakarta Military Command and the Jakarta Garrison
\nrespectively.<\/p>\n
The two were installed by Jakarta Military Commander Maj. Gen.
\nDjadja Suparman, who is also the garrison's commander, in a
\nceremony held at the command's East Jakarta headquarters.<\/p>\n
Yahya, who was formerly chief of staff at the garrison,
\nreplaced Maj. Gen. Sudi Silalahi, who has been promoted to
\nAssistant to the Armed Forces (ABRI) Chief of Sociopolitical
\nAffairs. Sudi replaced Maj. Gen. Mardiyanto, who was appointed
\nGovernor of Central Java.<\/p>\n
Born on Oct. 11, 1948, Yahya graduated from the National
\nMilitary Academy in 1971.<\/p>\n
Albert, who was born on Sept. 19, 1949, was in the staff of
\nthe assistant to the Army chief of staff for general planning
\nbefore being appointed as the garrison's chief of staff on Sept.
\n15.<\/p>\n
Djadja urged the newly installed officials to open dialogs
\nwith all parties who hold differences of opinion.<\/p>\n
\"Any differences of opinion should be led toward the same
\nvision. There are certain parties, for example, who want to push
\ntheir aspirations by exercising force and using unconstitutional
\nmeans,\" he said.<\/p>\n
\"Whatever happens, you should find a solution that is in the
\nnation's interest, using a sincere heart and clear mind,\" he said
\nin his speech.<\/p>\n
Among those present at the ceremony were Chief of Staff of the
\nArmy's Strategic Reserves Command Maj. Gen. Ryamizard, Deputy
\nJakarta Governor for Development Affairs Abdul Kahfi and the
\ndeputy chief of the city police, Brig. Gen. Sutanto.<\/p>\n
Both Yahya and Albert expressed gratitude over their new
\nappointments.<\/p>\n
\"I am ready to receive criticism from Bapak commander so that
\nI can perform well in this post,\" Yahya said.<\/p>\n
He later asked to be called by his last name, Yahya, not his
\nfirst as is customary.<\/p>\n
\"If you call me Achmad, I might not turn my head to you
\nbecause ever since I was a child, people have called me Yahya. I
\nhave never been called Achmad,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Albert recalled that he found difficulty discovering what
\n\"Kasgartap\", the acronym for his new post, stood for when news of
\nhis promotion was first announced.<\/p>\n
\"I asked my colleagues in the Army headquarters, but nobody
\nknew. They gave diplomatic answers, such as 'I don't know what it
\nis because I have never had the job,\" he said.<\/p>\n
Albert said that he eventually found what the acronym stood
\nfor from a low ranking garrison officer. The acronym is actually
\nshort for \"Kepala Staff Garnisun Tetap\" (permanent chief of staff
