Jambi, VIVA \u2013 The Ministry of Forestry has named two residents of\nTanjung Jabung Barat Regency, Jambi, with the initials MTN and AK, as\nsuspects for the alleged criminal offences of forest burning and\nunlawful occupation of a forest area.<\/p>\n
Hari Novianto, Head of the Forestry Law Enforcement Office for the\nSumatra Region, said the uncovering of this case forms part of law\nenforcement efforts against suspected forestry crimes occurring within\nforest areas.<\/p>\n
\u201cEvery fire point must be traced to its cause, especially when there\nare indications of unlawful activity. Forest areas must be protected\nfrom illegal activities that can damage the environment and increase the\nrisk of disasters,\u201d Hari said in Jambi City on Monday, 7 September\n2026.<\/p>\n
He explained that the two suspects allegedly committed the offences\nwithin a forest area located in the working area of the Forest\nUtilisation Business Permit (PBPH) of PT Rimba Hutani Mas (PT RHM),\nBlock III Taman Raja.<\/p>\n
The incident took place in the Limited Production Forest (HPT) of\nLubuk Bernai Village, Batang Asam Subdistrict, Tanjung Jabung Barat\nRegency, an area with a protective function. The incident occurred on\nWednesday, 2 September 2026 at around 12.10 Western Indonesia Time.<\/p>\n
The operation began when the Jambi Provincial Forest and Land Fire\nControl Task Force, together with PT Rimba Hutani Mas, carried out\nforest and land fire suppression activities in the Block III Taman Raja\narea.<\/p>\n
During the operation, the team spotted plumes of smoke from another\nlocation not far from the previous fire point.<\/p>\n
Based on that observation, the team then looked deeper into the\nincident based on facts and evidence obtained, including questioning PT\nRHM to obtain information regarding its PBPH responsibilities as well as\nthe forest and land fire prevention and control efforts undertaken in\nits working area.<\/p>\n
The findings were followed up by the security unit coordinator of\nBlock II Taman Raja, together with security personnel and Indonesian\nMilitary (TNI) personnel under Operational Control (BKO), by conducting\na check at the location.<\/p>\n
Upon arriving at the scene, the team secured two individuals\nsuspected of involvement in the burning activity within the forest\narea.<\/p>\n
