Two men injured trying to stop fight<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): Two men, attempting to stop an altercation
\nbetween residents of Kebon Pala in East Jakarta and three alleged
\nchicken thieves, were wounded on Thursday.<\/p>\n
The wounded victims were identified as Suparjono, 52, and
\nNanang, 24. Both men are residents of Cawang in East Jakarta,
\ncity police spokesman Lt. Col. Zainuri Lubis said on Friday.<\/p>\n
Lubis said that Suparjono received a head injury while Nanang
\nsuffered from slash wounds to his head and hands.<\/p>\n
"Nanang is still being treated at Soekanto Police Hospital in
\nKramat Jati, East Jakarta," he said.<\/p>\n
The incident took place at around 11 p.m. when the two
\nvictims, riding on a motorcycle, were passing through Kebon Pala.<\/p>\n
"When they passed the neighborhood, there was a quarrel
\nbetween local residents and three alleged chicken thieves,
\nidentified as Usep, 50, Narun, 25, and Yadi, 22," Lubis said,
\nadding that the three men were caught stealing chickens owned by
\nnearby residents.<\/p>\n
One of the residents, Hotman, attempted to force the alleged
\nthieves to return the chickens to their owners. Instead of
\nreturning the chickens, the three men pulled sickles from beneath
\ntheir shirts and challenged the residents to a fight.<\/p>\n
When the two victims saw the dispute they attempted to stop
\nit, Lubis said.<\/p>\n
"The two were trying to prevent the fight by jumping between
\nthe thieves and the angry residents."<\/p>\n
However, instead of ending the fight the two victims became
\nthe targets of anger, he said.<\/p>\n
Local police who later arrived at the scene dispersed the
\nresidents and arrested the three alleged chicken thieves.<\/p>\n
