        "content": "<p>Two masterminds caught in Dili<\/p>\n<p>JAKARTA: Police in East Timor have arrested two alleged rebels<br>\nfor masterminding the recent riots in the capital Dili, Antara<br>\nreported yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\"They were trying to escape when they were captured Sunday by<br>\nsecurity officers monitoring Dili and its surrounding areas,\"<br>\nlocal police chief, Col. Yusuf Mucharam.<\/p>\n<p>The authorities also arrested people suspected of rioting in<br>\nDili on Dec. 24 when Nobel Peace Prize laureate Bishop Carlos<br>\nFilipe Ximenes Belo returned from Oslo.<\/p>\n<p>Mucharam said the two alleged rebels worked as agitators in<br>\ntowns for last of the separatist rebels based in the jungle.<\/p>\n<p>\"They admitted that a number of riots and anti-integration<br>\ndemonstrations in the province were incited by the rebels from<br>\ntheir hideout in the mountains,\" he said.<\/p>\n<p>He said the two worked for two rebel leaders who he declined<br>\nto identify.<\/p>\n<p>An Army corporal was killed and 11 people injured in the Dec.<br>\n24 incident.
