Two live bullets found at Cenderawasih Univeristy<\/p>\n
JAKARTA (JP): A fact-finding team led by Irian Jaya Military
\nPolice Commander Lt. Col. Armen B. found two live bullets
\nyesterday at the Cenderawasih University campus.<\/p>\n
One was found in a stack of books in the building where
\nelementary school teachers are trained, while the other was found
\nin the office of one of the teaching staff, Antara reported.<\/p>\n
The fact-finding team, whose members include local military
\nand police personnel and a number of the university's lecturers
\nand students, has been trying to determine the direction from
\nwhich the bullets were fired.<\/p>\n
They have also questioned several students who claim to have
\nseen the shootings that happened on July 3, 1998 shortly after
\nthe conclusion of a free-speech forum on the campus.<\/p>\n
The victims were Cenderawasih University student Steven
\nSuripaty and Kotaraja junior high school student Korina Onim.
\nBoth are still in the hospital.<\/p>\n
One intelligence officer was also beaten during the incident.
\nHe later died.<\/p>\n
Armen said that the team would continue to search for new
\nevidence and that their findings would eventually be submitted to
\nthe Irian Jaya military commander.<\/p>\n
"So we really have not yet come to any conclusion whatsoever
\nabout the case," he said.<\/p>\n
Cenderawasih University's coordinator of the fact-finding
\nteam, Elly Lewerisa, said the university representatives on the
\nteam consisted of five lecturers and two students. (mds)<\/p>",
